LUNZ Footprint has joined other demonstration farm networks in becoming a member of Sustainable Farm Networks (SFN). LUNZ Footprint’s Living Lab approach of learning-by-doing together so that the GHG assessment process works better for everyone fits well into SFN.
Founded by The School of Sustainable Food and Farming at Harper Adams, the SFN connects diverse demonstration farm networks across the UK. It aims to provide a pre-competitive space to realise ‘a whole’ which is greater than the sum of its parts, enabling its members to share experiences, findings, and best practice to realise the collective goal of building a socially and environmentally resilient and regenerative food system in a net zero landscape. Currently there are 36 SFN member networks representing over 2000 farm demonstrators across hundreds of thousands of hectares spanning all sectors and systems.
‘The LUNZ Footprint project is delighted to join Sustainable Farm Networks. We look forward to hearing from other SFN members and sharing our experiences from the project’s Living Lab of 100 farms and other stakeholders as we collectively learn how to build understanding and capacity in farm GHG assessment’.
Prof. Julie Ingram, LUNZ Footprint project lead
‘We are delighted to welcome the LUNZ Footprint Network into the SFN. The area they are working in is so relevant to many other Networks interests and research- there is huge potential for everyone to benefit from communicating and building on shared experiences’.
Lucy Bates, SFN project manager
Working with Network Stewards – the individuals with the most direct and consistent contact with demonstration farms – the SFN supports and enables cooperation and collaboration. LUNZ Footprint representatives attended their first Network Stewards meeting to share experiences and common challenges with Scope 3 GHG reporting, already demonstrating the value of connecting across networks. LUNZ Footprint farmers will also have the opportunity to connect with farmers in other networks through the initiative.
